Crash Location C-47 42-92839
On 18 september this aircraft took part in the Airborne Droppings at Ginkel Heath. During the return flight, the C47 Skytrain of 61 Squadron 314 TCG was hit by FLAK over the Grebbeberg. The aircraft crashed on the river bank south of Rhenen.
Pilot Captain W. Egbert, Co-pilot M. Jerome and navigator 1 Lieutenant J. Feldman perished. Wireless Operator Staff Sergeant J. Yapel was taken prisoner. Crew Chief Technical Sergeant D. Desantis was hidden by the resistance.
There is no memorial.
