ONSe Bunker

What is ONSe BUNKER?
ONSe BUNKER is a small museum located at ONS Recreatieoord, the oldest holiday park in the Netherlands, founded in May 1923. The park is situated on the coast near Hoek van Holland. The museum is housed in two bunkers – one Dutch and one German – which together form a unique combination. These have recently been restored and tell the story of the Second World War and the period afterward.

Purpose and theme of the museum
The first exhibition is called "(Sur)viving in bunkers after '40–'45" and shows how the people of Hoek van Holland were forced to live in bunkers after the war. Many houses were demolished for the construction of the Atlantic Wall, and the bunkers provided temporary shelter. The exhibition contains photos, objects, and stories that paint a picture of this unique situation.
