Kindertransport Sculpture, Liverpool St Station

"FÜR DAS KIND - VERDREVEN by Flor Kent/ in memory of the greatness of ordinary people in extraordinary times/ Kindertransport Memorial connects/ Liverpool Street Station - London Hlavní Nídraží Station - Prague Westbahnhof Station - Vienna.

In memory of all those who helped rescue 10,000 Jewish and other children who fled Nazi persecution in 1938-1939 via the Kindertransports from Austria, Czechoslovakia and Germany to the United Kingdom. Liverpool Street Station was the main arrival point and meeting place for the children and their sponsors and foster families.
In memory of the millions of people, including more than one and a half million children, who perished during the Holocaust. They will not be forgotten.

Dedicated on 16 September 2003. Revealed again on 21 May 2011 by Sir Nicholas Winton With special thanks to: Crown Fine Arts Deutsche Bank Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology of Austria Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic Portland Sculpture & Quarry Trust Schreiber Charitable Trust UBS Winton Train Inspiration by Goodness and many other generous donors and supporters Plaque 2.

Dedicated to The Religious Community of Friends - The Quakers. For initiating the Kindertransports and their unique role in bringing about a change in British law to allow the children into Great Britain.

The statue was unveiled in 2003 and rededicated in 2011 in the presence of Sir Nicholas Winton, who played a key role in organising a number of Kindertransport trains.
