Memorial 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment

On June 6, 1944 At this place Company D of the 2nd Battalion 505 Parachute Regiment, 82nd Airborne Div. stopped the strong German attack to recapture Sainte-Mère-Église suffering severe casualties. The French civilians here stood by their liberators and attended the wounded. May the paratroopers who fought here and the French civilians always be remembered by the generations to come.
