Information Sign Polish Parachutists Landing Heteren

In September 1944, Polish paratroopers landed here to reinforce the British airborne troops near Oosterbeek. After the failed Battle of Arnhem, the Germans blew up the Drielsedijk during Operation Fall Storch. The village then became the scene of fierce fighting between German and Allied troops.
