On May 12, 1940, around 6:00 PM, the command post of the 4th Hussar Regiment was established in this building. In 1940, a café called "Rustoord" was located in this building.
A few hours later, the command post was moved to Rhenen.
The commander of 4th Hussar Regiment was Lieutenant Colonel S.M.S.A.A. de Marees van Swinderen.
