In the Townhall of Groesbeek hangs a liberation plaque.

Mission Accomplished on
Sunday Afternoon 17 September 1944

The 505th parachute regimental combat team
of the American 82nd Airborne Division
as the central link in operation "Market Garden"
dropped 60km beyond allied front lines
and seized and held (for 57 days) vital bridges
and terrain in the Nijmegen-Groesbeek-Mook area
against heavy enemy resistance
and desperate counterattacks.

We dedicate this memorial to those brave
American Troopers and heroic Dutch citizens
who gave their lives that the people
of the Netherlands might live in freedom.
