Stumbling Stones Isestraße 36

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Agathe Blanck (born 1876, murdered in Lodz)
Maximilian Bermann (born 1875, murdered in Theresienstadt on 1-8-1942)
Lina Karoline Bermann (born 1879, murdered in Auschwitz)
Anita Coutinho (born 1875, murdered in Lodz on 29-4-1942)
Carl Frank (born 1887, murdered in Minsk)
Else Frank (born 1886, murdered in Minsk)
Laura Heldberg (born 1887, murdered in Lodz)
Walter Heldberg (born 1888, faith unknown)
Eduard Meyer (born 1882, murdered in Lodz)
Berta Meyer (born 1894, murdered in Lodz)
Arnold Meyer (born 1884, murdered in Lodz)
Frieda Meyer (born 1882, murdered in Lodz)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
