Glider Memorial

During Operation Market Garden, Horsa Gliders landed here. The memorial consist of a mainwheel leg of a Horsa Glider. There are two signs with information of the operation.

The monument on 17 Septemberstraat in Groesbeek-Breedeweg commemorates the deployment of British Horsa gliders during Operation Market Garden on 17 September 1944. It consists of a main wheel support arm of a Horsa glider and is accompanied by information boards about the operation.

During the operation, British Horsa gliders landed in this area, bringing troops and equipment. The monument marks one of the locations where these gliders landed.

Every year on 17 September, a commemoration takes place at the monument. During this ceremony, speeches are given, wreaths are laid and there is room for silence and reflection. In this way, the memory of the events of 1944 is kept alive.

The monument is located on 17 Septemberstraat / Parachutistenstraat in Groesbeek-Breedeweg and is freely accessible to visitors.
