Samuël van Zwanenbergh, a merchant and his wife Grietje van Zwanenbergh had 3 children – Louis Simon, Antonette Sophie, above and Rosetta. Rosetta’s stolperstein is at Molenstraat 143 along with those of her husband Henri Zilverberg and their baby Emma.

Samuel’s family did not survive. His father died in 1916 and his mother was killed at age 86 in Sobibor. His brother David, age 47, was killed in Sobibor. His sister Catharina van Straten, age 45 was killed with her 2 teenage children ages 14 and 16 in Auschwitz; her husband Mozes van Straten was killed there a year later. Samuel’s sister Elisabeth Samuel, age 51, her husband Aaron Samuel age 54 and their 2 adult children Elisabeth age 21 and son Marcel age 23 were also all killed in Auschwitz.

Grietje’s parents both died before the war. Of her 4 siblings alive at the beginning of the war, only one sister survived; the other 3 siblings were killed in Auschwitz, Sobibor and Poland.

The German artist Gunter Demnig started placing the first Stolpersteine in 1997 in Berlin's Kreuzberg district. Meanwhile there are Stolpersteine in many countries. They commemorate the victims of the National Socialism (Nazism).
A Stolperstein is a concrete stone of 10 x 10cm, with a brass plate on top, on which the name, year of birth and date and place of death are engraved.
The Stolperstein gets a place in the pavement in front of the former house of the victim.
By doing this, Gunter Demnig gives a private memorial to each victim.
His motto is: 'A HUMAN BEING IS FORGOTTEN ONLY WHEN HIS OR HER NAME IS FORGOTTEN'.

Borne was the first town in the Netherlands in which Stolpersteine were placed.
This happened the 29-11-2007.
