Major Alida Margaretha Bosshardt was Dutch officer of the Salvation Army.
During World War II she was Director of the Children's Home Zonnehoek, this orphanage was right in the Jewish quarter of Amsterdam.
In july 1943 Amsterdam North was bombed, Major Bosshardt fled with some of the children to Hilversum. They stayed there at different addresses in the Gooi.
During the hunger winter she participated in food tours.
In August 2004 Major Bosshardt received the Jewish Yad Vashem award.
11-07-2012 in Amstelveen is the bridge in the Broersepark named after her.
