Japanese Underground Field Hospital Haebaru

An underground field hospital of the Japanese Imperial Army was located here during the Battle of Okinawa (1.4.1945 - 23.6.1945). Approximately 2,000 Japanese soldiers died in this hospital.

Since June 2007, the underground facility is open to the public.
