Shooting Incident Van Baerleplantsoen

After a phonecall on 10 May 1940, telling that German paratroopers were landed in and around Dordrecht, the major of Dordrecht, J. Bleekers, wanted to look around in Krispijn, a part of the city.
From a taxi, he could see a wounded civilian lying on the crossing at the Van Baerleplantsoen. When they stopped to give help, they were shot at by German paratroopers. The major was hurt in that incident.

The first picture was taken from the location the Germans were shooting from. Opposite the crossing there were still visible bulletholes in the facades of Hugo de Grootlaan 3 (pictures nr. 2 and 3), the Jan Luykenstraat 23 (picture nr. 4) and the Jan Luykenstraat 25 (picture nr. 5).
