Shiraume-tai Cave

During the Battle of Okinawa (1.4.1945 - 23.6.1945) a group of Japanese school girls, assigned by the Imperial Japanese Army for several tasks on the front, hid in this cave. On 22 June 1945, an American flamethrower unit burned these girls alive.

Today, the cave can be visited.
