Memorial Help to Jews

This memorial commemorates the Belgian people who, with the risk of their own lives, offered help to Jews during the occupation by the Nazis.

On the wall on the Mont des Arts, to the left of the stairs, hangs a group of statues consisting of 3 figures who stand hand in hand. Above it hangs an angel with dove of peace and palm. The work is by the sculptor Antoine Vriens from Uccle.

Two copper plates in the two national languages hang next to the sculpture group:
"Whoever saves a life,
saves the whole world
(The Talmud).

Tribute to the "Righteous"
of Belgium and to the citizens who, at risk
for their lives, have provided assistance to
persecuted Jews during the Nazi occupation.
Thank you Belgium.

This memorial plaque was inaugurated on 8 May 2007 by
Guy Verhofstadt, Prime Minister
André Flahaut, Minister of National Defence,
charged with war casualties."
