Statue Marthinus Theunis Steyn

This statue of Marthinus Theunis Steyn (President of Orange Freestate from 1896 to 1902) is erected in commemoration of the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902).

Because many Boer were of Dutch origin, the Netherlands was pronounced pro-Boer and about 2,000 Dutch volunteers went to South Africa to fight on the side of the republics.
