King's/Queen's Commendation for brave conduct

The King's/Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct, nowadays called the "Queen's Commendation for Bravery", can be awarded to civilians and members of the armed services in both war and peace, for gallantry not in the presence of an enemy.
The decoration was established in 1939 and changed to the "Queen's Commendation for Bravery" in 1994.
