1939: studied in Japan
1940: Doctorate with a thesis on "The Influence of Western Law on Legal Formation in Japan and China. Comparative law studies on the entire field of criminal law"
04.1944: severely WIA
1950: civil servant in the judicial service of the Federal Republic of Germany
1952: legation councilor in the foreign service
1954: accredited at the Embassy in Tokyo and the Consulate General in Calcutta
1966: head of the Eastern Europe department in the Foreign Office
01.1968: headed a delegation which negotiated with representatives of the government of Yugoslavia in Paris
1970-1972: worked as ambassador in Paris
1973: first appointed ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Warsaw since the attack in 1939
1977-1980: ambassador in London
1980: retired
