Patrick Tiernan, son of James and Mary Tiernan from Murgon, Queensland, Australia. Served as Flight Sergeant, air gunner with No. 77 Squadron, Royal Air Force.
He was killed on 17 June 1944 when his Halifax Mk III MZ 715 was shot down near Ochten, Netherlands, during a mission to Sterkrade, Germany. Of the six other crew members, one survived the crash, four are buried at the War Cemetery in Uden and Patrick Tierman and Alfred Burns, who were later found, are buried at the cemetery in Dodewaard. His gravestone bears the inscription: HIS DUTY FEARLESSLY AND NOBLY DONE. EVER REMEMBERED R.I.P.
