"At TRETTEN on April 23rd 1940, this warrant officer was commanding a Platoon Post holding a bridge. The area was subjected to intense enemy Mortar and Artillery fire and casualties were mounting rapidly. This warrant officer showed a fine example of personal bravery which succeeded in holding the morale of his Platoon and thereby holding the position until ordered to withdraw."
