Biography

Inducted into Army- May 5th, 1944 at Camp Robenson Ark 395th Infantry, Co D 99th Division.

Made Marksman June 29th,1944 and was sent to Mineral Wells Texas to finish training he was put in Heavy Machine Gunner #605 and went to Germany December 22nd, 1944.

On March 15th, 1945 his group was hit while crossing the Rhine. All but Clifton were KIA. Clifton was wounded. He spent nearly a year in hospitals after that.

Clifton died December 6th, 1989. When he died he still had 50 or more pieces of shrapnel in his back as well as a large crater in his shoulder.
