Dutch War Grave Municipal Cemetery Rottum

The Municipal Cemetery in Rottum contains a Dutch war grave from the Second World War.
It is the grave of Albert Marten Rinkema.
During the night of 29 to 30 June 1944, the 59-year-old cattle farmer Rinkema was shot dead in his home on Binnendijk in Rottum.
This Silbertanne murder was carried out by the Landwacht on the orders of the Germans after the liquidation of an NSB policeman in Heerenveen.
Rinkema was a versatile and prominent man who served the community.
