Memorial Stone Burgemeester Tutein Noltheniuslaan 50

MEMORIAL STONES HOLOCAUST AND RESISTANCE FIGHTERS

In Apeldoorn is a memorial Stone for:
Ruth Rebekka Gluskinos.

Ruth Rebekka Gluskinos is the daughter of Willy Gluskinos and Judith Ester Gluskinos-Breslauer. She has two brothers and one sister.

Ruth Rebekka is known to be single and, according to relatives, has a physical disability. Her brother Georg fled to the Netherlands in 1937 for fear of the Gestapo. At the end of 1939 he continued his flight by going to Palestine with an illegal emigration ship, the Dora. Ruth Rebeka's parents also flee to the Netherlands and at some point manage to reach Palestine legally. Ruth's other brother, Gerhard, is also reported to have fled to Palestine. Reni, Ruth's sister, can stay in Breslau until 1942, thanks to the protection of a police chief who is friends with her father. In 1942 Reni manages to reach Palestine with another illegal emigration ship, the Patria.

In 1939 Ruth Rebekka leaves Emden, Germany, to go to Apeldoorn, where from December 1939 she has lived in guest house "Huize Lview", Meester van Hasseltlaan 25 (after number 39). She then resides at three different addresses, always living with a Jewish couple. Around July 1940 she moved to Weidestraat 10 (only traceable through Delpher), the home of the couple Joseph and Judith Elze. From February 12, 1941 she lives for almost three months with the couple Berend Gustaaf and Jeannette Frieda Cohen and their children, at Deventerstraat at number 129. On May 2, 1941, her address becomes Tutein Noltheniuslaan 50, where she lives with the Barend couple. Female Slagter.

In the night of 17 to 18 November 1942, large roundups take place in Gelderland in various places. In Apeldoorn an unknown number of Jews are taken from their homes and led to the local train station on foot. From there they are deported by train to Kamp Westerbork. Ruth Rebekka was also arrested this night.

She was registered in Camp Westerbork on November 18, 1942. She will stay there for three months. On Tuesday, February 16, 1943, a train leaves the camp with the final destination Auschwitz. Ruth Rebekah is one of the 1108 forced passengers. On Friday, February 19, 1943, the train arrives at Auschwitz. Ruth Rebekah is murdered in a gas chamber the same day.
