Memorial Sign Crash Location Messerschmitt Bf 109

Project Lost Wings '40 - '45 has placed Memorial Signs in the Municipality of Emmen on the places where airplanes crashed during the Second World War.

Around noon on the 29th of November 1943, a Messerschmitt Bf109 took off to intercept American bombers during their return journey (Four Tower Bridge). Above the Dutch border, the fighter was hit, possibly by friendly fi re. The pilot bailed out and landed with his parachute at the Viertorenbrug. While waiting for help, he told residents that it was his second airplane that day. There were no civilian casualties or damage in the crash.
