Telephone Exchange Fliegerhorst Venlo

A telephone cable came out of the ground in this street. The Germans laid this cable to this house. There the fixed lines to the Fliegerhorst were sent by the exchange. The female soldiers here made the connection to the various places on the Fliegerhorst with a fixed connection.
They were called Blitzmädel because they had a flash of lightning on their uniforms. This related to the spark in the Morse code key. This was their logo. They also slept in this building. The boxes at the bottom of the basement are no longer there, a later owner had it removed. The house is still there.
