Hotel Wilhelmina

In the war, during the occupation called Hotel Pollen, because the occupier thought the name Wilhelmina was too chauvinistic. It forced them face to face with the fact that the royal family had been too quick for them.
Hotel Wilhelmina got its name back on March 1, 1945. The day Venlo was liberated, the 35th Infantry Division established its headquarters there. Santa Fé and the 784th tank battalion liberated Venlo. The copper plaque to the left of the entrance commemorates that event.
