Memorials Gelre Hospital

In the Gelre hospital there are two plaques that previously hung in other hospitals (St. Liduina and Juliana hospital) where various soldiers were nursed during the Battle of Arnhem.
When the Liduina Hospital was demolished in 1978, the plaque was moved to the hall of the Lukas Hospital (nowadays the Gelre Hospital).
The other plaque also went here, at the closure of the Juliana Hospital in 2009.

The text on the plaque in front of the Juliana Hospital:
"Presented to
Juliana Hospital
Apeldoorn
in grateful acknowledgment
or their services to the
1st British Airborne Division
during and after
The Battle at Arnhem
September 17-25, 1944."

The text on the plaque in front of the St. Liduina Hospital:
"Presented to
St Liduina Hospital

during and after
The Battle at Arnhem
