War Memorial Retinne

Monument in memory of the victims of the First and Second World Wars.

This monument has a partly symbolic meaning, as the
Belgian lion catches the German eagle in its paws and bites it to death.

Retinne was particularly badly affected during the First World War. The German offensive passed through this village, which was severely damaged as a result. Many casualties were suffered among the population, but also among the defenders of the 12th and 14th line regiments.
