Born of the Liberty Road - Le Cannet

These monuments of the Voie de la Liberté (Road of Freedom) are located along the routes taken by the Allies in 1944 and 1945.

This pole in Le Cannet was donated in honour of 50 years of liberation by the citizens of Lafayette, Louisiana in memory of the victims of the 1944 Southern French campaign.

The inscription on the pole reads:

'TO
HONOUR THE MEMORY
OF THOSE
WHO FOUGHT
FOR
FREEDOM

1944-1994'
