Stelling van Amsterdam - National Clothing Warehouse

The Rijkskledingmagazijn (National Clothing Warehouse) is a long, four-story building with a Conrad-style building at the rear. The site includes a warehouse and a gatehouse.

Since 1869, it served as a military depot. Uniforms and shoes were produced externally; during World War I, conscripts produced up to a thousand pairs of shoes per day. During the first days of the Mobilization of August 1, 1914, the headquarters of the Defence Line of Amsterdam was located in the corridors of this building.

Under German occupation, it was used by the Wehrmacht. In 1948, warehouses on Sumatra and Borneokade were also in use.

From the late 1960s until shortly after 1986, the building housed the BVD, presumably to monitor communist activities. Weapons were stored there through infiltration.
