Memorial 1st World War at Wandre

This memorial on the cemetery wall of the Wandre-Centre cemetery commemorates the fallen soldiers, those who were shot, and those who died in captivity.

The soldiers commemorated are:

BLOOM Paul, soldier, killed in action, no further details known.

BOURDOUX Guillaume, 32 years old, born in Wandre, soldier in the 17th artillery regiment, died from injuries sustained on February 21, 1919, in the military hospital in Hoogstade. Burried at the cemetery in behind the memorial.

CRENIER Hubert, 24 years old, from Wandre, soldier in the 12th Line Regiment, killed by shrapnel on July 23, 1918, in Izenberge. Burried at the cemetery in behind the memorial.

FRANQUET Pierre, 27 years old, from Wandre, soldier in the 14th Line Regiment, killed in the explosion of Fort Loncin on August 15, 1914. See photo 3 taken at Fort Loncin, where several soldiers who remain unknown are buried. In photo 4, he is listed among the fallen soldiers of the 14th Line Regiment.

HOREMBACH Henri, 21 years old, born in Wandre, soldier in the 1st Cyclistes (cyclists) regiment, killed in action on October 21, 1918, in Maldegem. Burried at the cemetery in behind the memorial.

LEMOINE Jean, 23 years old, from Wandre, soldier in the 14th Line Regiment, missing since October 24, 1914 in Sint-Joris (Nieuwpoort).

LUITES Jean, 24 years old, born in Wandre, soldier in the Engineers, killed in action in Sint-Eloois-Winkel on October 14, 1918.

WAONRY Herman, 24 years old, born in Wandre, soldier in the 3rd Artillery Regiment, 75 mm rapid-fire cannons, killed in action in Dendermonde on September 4, 1914, and missing since then.
