Memorial Plaques Haarlem Train Station

In the hall of Haarlem Central Station are three plaques which commemorate the killed Railway Employees of Haarlem.

Another plaque commemorates the Sinterklaasrazzia> The text on the plaque is:

FROM THIS SPOT ON 6 DECEMBER 1944 ABOUT 1300 MEN WHO HAD BEEN CAPTURED DURING THE SINTERKLAAS (ST NICOLAS) ROUND-UP IN HAARLEM AND ENVIRONS WERE DEPORTED TO REES, BIENEN AND PRAEST. AT LEAST 81 OF THEM DIED FROM EXHAUSTION, ILLNESS AND MALTREATMENT.

UNVEILED ON 11 OCTOBER 2004


The plaque is located in the Haarlem train station near the stairs to plaform 1 on the west side.
