Pamart Casemate Souville (B)

This concrete mg casemate of the type "Pamart" is constructed in 1917 to strengthen Fort de Souville. In 1916, Captain Pamart came up with the design of a machine gun emplacement that was easy to build. Typical of the metal armor part is the shape that resembles the snout of an elephant. The Pamart casemate is armed with two machine guns and has one or two embrasures. They were designed to increase the firepower of a fortress. The whole is connected underground to a fortress. A total of 34 copies have been installed. The remaining examples were used in the Maginot Line.
