In the forest Chaam / Gilze-Rijen a military camp was built during World War II by the Germans.
The camp consisted of about 50 buildings from which the soldiers were brought with a train to the airport Gilze-Rijen
The camp looked from the air like a village so there was less chance of bombing by warplanes.
At the camp, the Germans built offices, garages, bath houses, warehouses, cellars, a bowling alley, a prison and a munitions warehouse.
The site is now A.Z.C. Princebosch.
