Peter & Paul Fortress

Peter & Paul fortress, the original citadel of St.Petersburg, was badly damaged due to the German bombardments on Leningrad during the siege of the city in 1941-1944. It was fully restored after the war.

The fort today:
It can be visited nowadays.

Every day at 12:00 exactly a cannon is fired at the wall of the fortress. This is not an old historical cannon but a modern piece of artillery, and the blow is therefore more than impressive. It can be heard all over the city center.
