Biography

Garland Collier was born on 1st November 1918 in Coleman, Texas. Collier went into service on 1st September 1942. After the initial Infantry training, Garland volunteerd for the paratroopers. Garland was placed with HQ 3rd Batallion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He jumped on D-Day, but was injured and evacuated to England. On 17th September 1944, Garland took part in Operation Market Garden. He was killed by enemy mortar fire on 5th October 1944. He was reported missing in action so his name was added to the "Wall of Missing" at the American Cemetery Margraten.
