Biography

Philip Daley Gallery was born October 17th, 1907. He was educated at the U.S. Naval Academy. Prior to WW 2 he was awarded the Legion of Merit for his insight in and leadership of the organisation and administration of the Anti-Aircraft Training Test Center in Dam Neck, Virginia.
December 29th, 1943, he was made commander of the U.S.S. Jenkins.
Following WW 2 he served as Commanding Oficer of Destroyer Division 72, as Executive Officer Naval Powder Factory and as Commanding Officer U.S.S. Passumpic. In 1950 Gallery was posted as Officer in charge of the Gunfire Support School and from June 1953 to December 1954 he was in command of the U.S.S. Pittsburgh.
Later on he was posted as Commanding Officer Surface Anti-Submarine Detachment and served on the staff of the Commander Operational Development Force Atlantic Fleet. He retired in 1958.
Philip Daley Gallery passed away November 29th, 1973.
