Memorial Ten Killed Children Breda

On the Molengracht, next to the new Amphia hospital, a work of art has been placed to commemorate the ten children killed.

In the night of January 21 to 22, fate struck in a farmhouse in the Molengrachtstraat. The Dielemans family with five children, after a V1 had fallen on their farm on January 5, moved to the farm of the De Jongh family. The De Jongh family also had five children.
A second V1 hit the farm of the De Jongh family. The ten children slept together with an aunt on one side of the farm. The four parents on the other side. The V1 destroyed half the farm and the ten children and their aunt were killed instantly.
Three naves were planted in memory of this drama. These trees were recently felled in connection with the construction of the new Amphia hospital.

To keep the memory of this event alive, Amphia had this artwork made by Michel Kuipers. This was revealed on 9 September 2019.

The five children of the Dielemans family are buried in De Driesprong cemetery in Breda. The five children of the De Jongh family are buried in the Vogelenzang cemetery.
