Memorial Liberation Army Xhavée-Rabosée

The monument commemorates the 378 fallen of the Liberation Army (Belgian resistance group) of World War II, including 14 resistance fighters who perished at this site.

It should be remembered for all these victims that they fell just after the liberation of Liège on September 6, 1944. A very chaotic time due to the withdrawal of the German army and the Allied attacks combined with the sabotage actions of the various resistance organizations in Belgium including the Armée de Liberation (A.L.) led by André Delfosse.

NEUVILLE Julien, from Herstal, medical student at the University of Liège, arrested on September 8 for carrying a revolver, shot that same day at Xhavée-Raobsée.

JOIRIS Charles, age 24, from Liège, executed September 7, 1944 in Saive, buried in the Robermont cemetery in Liège.

LEVENS Emile, from Herstal, killed in Saive, no details known.

DE LA MARCK Hubert, from Liège, killed in action at Saive, no details known

PONCELET A, killed at Saive, no details known

JOURDONNEIX Marcel, no details known.

LOIX Arnold, from Sluizen, killed at Saive, no details known

GARRAY Marcel, age 24, from Liège, arrested on September 5, 1944 and executed one day later in Saive, buried in the Saint-Walburge cemetery in Liège.

ROUSSEAU Armand, from Saint-Nicolas in Liège, killed in Saive, no details known.

GILLON Emile, from Wandre, died at Saive, no details known
