Trench Geofort

A trench at GeoFort refers to a reconstructed or recreated trench that is part of the educational and interactive offering of GeoFort, a theme park in Herwijnen (Gelderland) that revolves around cartography, geography and geo-technology.

What is GeoFort?
GeoFort is a fort that is part of the New Dutch Waterline and has been transformed into an innovative science centre. It focuses on everything related to maps, navigation, virtual reality, big data and the climate. Many parts are specially designed for children and schools, but adults can also find interesting information there.

The trench is part of the outdoor area and is intended to introduce visitors, especially children, to the following in a playful way:

Military history and defence techniques;

The function of trenches in wartime;

The strategic location of forts such as GeoFort in the Waterline.

Visitors can walk through the trench, hide, and sometimes encounter interactive elements such as information panels or games. It ties in with GeoFort's educational mission to let people learn about spatial planning and defense in a playful way.
