Commemorative cross of executed citizen

Along Rue Roosevelt, a memorial cross commemorates a civilian executed by the German army at this site on August 8, 1914.

DUMONT Adolphe, age 43, from Vaux-sous-Chèvremont. He was executed on his 43rd birthday.

He was executed by the barbarian German army in the presence of his son Jean and bystander Jean Mosseux.

A street name was named after him in Vaux-sous-Chèvremont after the war. He is also commemorated on the at the town hall of Vaux-sous-Chèvremont.
