Between 1904 and 1920, the office of the First Command was located here. The Defence Line of Amsterdam fell under the control of three First Commands, each commanded by a major. They built, managed, and demolished war infrastructure within their respective areas. Service groups were overseen by a Chief of Staff (OVF), who sometimes worked independently from their own home.
The building was built in the first quarter of the 18th century and has been a municipal monument since 1970.
