Memorial Louis Bleijs Gorinchem

This Memorial commemorates Father Louis Bleijs who was seriously injured on this location on 17 August 1945 in a car accident. He died the same day.

Peter Ludovicus Adrianus "Ludo" Bleijs was an important person in the Limburg Resistance during World War II. He was active on many fronts. Because he came to the attention of the Germans, he had to move to England, where he advised the Dutch government.

The accident took place under suspicious circumstances and there are strong rumors that the jeep was sabotaged by former NSB-members. However, this could not be proved.
