"Hit over Germany by flak, the New Zealand pilot

Warrent Officer IVAN WILLIAM CAIN (NZ421674)

crashed his Typhoon IB here on 6 October 1944. By deliberately choosing this terrain which was farmland in those days the surrounding houses and its residents were saved from a terrible disaster. Regrettably, he lost his life here. He was 20 years old.

Here we remember his heroic deed."
