Memorials Fort Douaumont

The large plaque at the entrance commemorates the recapture of Fort Douaumont on 24 October 1916.

In the Fort Douaumont, near the exit of the walking tour, is a small plaque to commemorate the at that times captain Charles de Gaulle, commander of the 10th Company of the 3rd Battalion of the 33rd infantry regiment, who fought near Douaumont.

Another plaque is in memory of the French soldiers who fell in the fighting for Fort Douaumont.
