Biography

William L. Russell entered service with the Arkansas Army National Guard in Conway, Arkansas in 1937. He rose to the ranks of Sergeant before his unit was mobilised in 1941 and send to Alaska. He fought Japanese troops on Attu and Kiska before he was send to Europe as Company Commander with 330th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division. He went back to the USA in May 1945. He served as Artillery Battery Commander in 1951 in Korea and retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1965.
