Teacher Tieke Jansma died on January 12, 1945, because she helped Jews during World War II. She was a teacher here.

Tieke Jansma

11 October 1913 - 12 January 1945

In this building, formerly a primary school
"De Gortershoek," Miss Jansma worked
as a teacher. During World War II, she hid twelve Jewish people in her Amsterdam
home. When
some of them contracted typhoid, she also became
infected. Miss Jansma died at the age of 31.

In her memory, a plaque bearing her image has been placed in the hall of this
