Operation Chopper was a small Commando raid carried out by No. 1 Commando on the night of 27–28 September 1941 against the German‑occupied coast of Normandy. The force landed in two groups: one ambushed a German patrol near St. Vaast, while another came ashore at Luc‑sur‑Mer and met heavy resistance. Two commandos were killed and several wounded. Though militarily limited, the raid provided valuable experience in amphibious operations and left a lasting legacy in Luc‑sur‑Mer, where the fallen men were buried.
